Thanks to their material and means of fabrication, jeans are heralded for their incredible sturdiness. Try squatting in a pair of tailored trousers... These light-blue jeans are from the SS27 collection, with a T-shirt from SS26 and a calf-leather belt. Indeed, as the belt buckle suggests, Acne Studios is 30 years old this year! Congratulations.
Ageing is a relative thing in denim, where new and broken- in can live together happily. All the Acne Studios pieces seen here are from either this year, or the upcoming SS27 collection, but they could be decades old. They’re all blue, but not necessarily the same shade of blue. Worn with a white T-shirt and a bit of attitude.
New, old, back, front, men’s, women’s, turned up, rolled out, worn with a derby shoe or a heel. What’s amazing about denim is that anything goes, and the range of options is limitless. All this is made by Acne Studios, including the white shirt, the three belts and the Camero Camera shoulder bag on the right (but not the tie, which is the stylist’s own).
What started as a creative agency in Stockholm working on film, video games and advertising turned into one of the world’s most exciting fashion brands: Acne Studios. Its fashion origins go back to 1996, when they made 100 pairs of denim for friends and family with no visible branding, just some signature, eye-catching red stitching. The originals are impossible to find, but luckily, two sets of Re-Edition jeans (and matching jackets) have just been made and are available now.
Today, Acne Studios makes everything from shoes to bags (like the Camero Camera here), underwear and scarves. They have a publishing arm and a gallery in Paris. But jeans remain a cornerstone, from crispy new ones, to worn-in and a fabulous range of trompe l’œil wonders. All you could ever want! Like this dark-blue pair from AW26 and, right, a light-blue model from SS27.
