Readers with an infestation of moths, or perhaps simply a predilection for colourful dots, will be excited to learn of WOOLFILLER, a new product by designer Ms. HELEEN KLOPPER of Amsterdam. WOOLFILLER is a kit containing several colours of carded wool, a block of foam rubber, and two felting needles. Holes in wool textiles can be easily “patched” with these tools by taking advantage of the tendency of the fibres to interlock and form felt when agitated. These felt patches bond permanently with the underlying fabric, fixing the hole forever without the need for glue, ironing, or stitches. The image above shows a vintage merino wool turtleneck patched in FANTASTIC MAN’s very own office using a WOOLFILLER kit containing a handsome assortment of forest green, green, peacock blue, burgundy, and purple wool. (Total job time: about three very pleasant hours.)
