But today *is* Labour Day in many places, no? In any case, rules like that are made of course to give people who are unsure a sense of comfort. So if it makes them feel OK about when they wear what, why not? But “winter white” is one of the most elegant ways to avoid censure from the rule-keepers. The challenge, always, is keeping white (“winter” or otherwise) looking white. (By the by, can’t believe you raised the subject and avoided Mark Twain, Tom Wolfe, and the usual suspects :-)
