Today’s tip hails from the exceptionally exciting world of book publishing: FANTASTIC MAN has edited a pocket book for the venerable house of PENGUIN! Buttoned-Up is a 112-page paperback that investigates the curious east London phenomenon of buttoning one’s shirt all the way to the top. Is it a secret code? Or, perhaps, a rite of passage? The book contains essays, reportages, photographs and an entertaining interview with the notoriously buttoned-up NEIL TENNANT of the PET SHOP BOYS. The title is part of a series of 12 celebrating the 150th anniversary of the London Underground and is available from all good bookshops and via www.penguin.co.uk. Visitors to the latter can expect to receive a discount of 30 percent on the already affordable cover price of £4.99 when the word “tube” is entered upon checkout.

A most enjoyable read for the journey from Old Street to Kennington. Thank you.

I hope some dandy from East London isn’t claiming that somehow, they invented this top-button trend only last month in a ping-pong bar in Shoreditch. My Grandad was doing this in the 30′s and he was from Acton!
