Readers are invited to click on the above image to view a selection of BUCKS, an OXFORD-type lace-up shoe typically fashioned in nubuck suede with a rubber sole. The first, the so called DIRTY BUCKS, are the classic shoes in a tan colour favoured by Ivy League clotheshorses and often paired with khakis. Wear brings welcome character to them. This pair is from L.L. BEAN and was photographed by Mr. ANDREW T. VOTTERO in Central Park, New York City. The second pair is a contemporary restyle by SANDERS with a suede upper and welted red brick sole. They were photographed by Mr. DEVIN BLAIR in London and seem well-suited to the current climate of excitement around the colour forest green. They are selling quickly through OI POLLOI; the first shipment was gone in a mere eleven hours. Finally, a high-spirited entry from JAY KOS in New York. These bucks are hand made in Italy exclusively for the Upper East Side retailer and come in a range of hysterical ultra-saturated colors such as ‘Eggplant’, an example of which was also photographed by ANDREW, also in New York.

The second pair are nice (maybe mostly because the photography is excellent) and great colour but the third one are too Dr Martens, and not in a good way. They invoke comfort and thick wool socks, but I am not sure they are for me.
