A nice tall pair of tough-looking boots in a light colour, such as the pair above, called the “US AIR FORCE TFX” by DANNER, mixes well with a tight and dressy look. DANNER is a Portland, Oregon-based manufacturer of footwear, chiefly boots, suited to hiking, hunting, fishing, work, and military uses. They have dozens of styles, all slightly fetishistic in nature, and many lace up quite high. More detail may be seen by clicking on the image above. They were photographed in New York by Mr. ANDREW T. VOTTERO, who also provided the styling. The trousers are JIL SANDER, the shirt is SAVE KHAKI, and the tie is BALENCIAGA.

boots suck. if it weren’t for snow, i would never wear them.
Charles:
Interesting, but not, I fear, for me. Fun to mix a slicker, urban style with something more rugged, but the proportions don’t appear to work. At least do up the laces.

Not for me, either. They look like something out of the ‘Dune’, ‘Mad Max’ or ‘Star Wars’ wardrobes and don’t seem to have the potential to mix with much.

Interesting idea. As a serviceman, I feel obligated to point out that their “slightly fetishistic” nature comes from the fact that, well, those boots are called “Air Force” for a reason. They are authorized uniform wear for USAF ABUs. It’s strange (not bad, just strange) to see those so-called sage green boots that I wear four days a week recommended as fashionable.
If I could make my own recommendation, stay away from the green. The desert boots and some of the classic blacks strike me as much more doable.
