This evening New York City sees the contemporary art sale at PHILLIPS DE PURY, the auction house helmed by the perpetually double-breasted Mr. SIMON DE PURY. The sale includes several pieces by Italian artist MAURIZIO CATTELAN, including the macabre installation “Daddy Daddy”, 2008. The piece was originally installed in the elliptical fountain on the ground floor of the rotunda at THE SOLOMON R. GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM in New York City as part of theanyspacewhatever exhibition in 2008. It was shown again in 2011 as part of CATTELAN’s retrospective and retirement show, this time suspended from the ceiling of the museum. “Daddy Daddy” is expected to fetch $2.5-3.5 million USD, which sadly does not include a pool.
