For another vintage perfume tip look no farther than PERFUMES OF THE PAST, in Amsterdam. The tiny shop is packed with everything from ARAMIS to signature scents by Mr. DAVID BECKHAM and CÉLINE DION in everything from travel to novelty sized bottles. (Surprisingly, with all the bottles the shop contains, the shop’s odour is particularly neutral.) Many of the fragrances, such as a bottle of LANVIN VETYVER from the late ’60s, date back to when they were originally produced and maintain much of their original aroma. We went in search for the highly covetable HELMUT LANG fragrances, which unfortunately, according to owner Mr. LEO HICKINSON, is the one thing even he can’t find.
