Galoshes, or overshoes, are extremely practical in inclement weather. Yet, have readers actually seen them on the street? We haven’t. (Although, come next autumn and winter, expect to be inundated by them as part of the PRADA shoes de la saison.) Typically made from rubber, galoshes slip over shoes to protect them from water and other substances such as salt that may damage the leather. This pair, by esteemed British footwear brand JOHN LOBB, is a lovely bright yellow and can be purchased for £125 GBP.

Carl W:
They’re all over Stockholm! Especially the ones made by the Norwegian brand ‘Swims’. Last season the bright colours, orange in particular, was polular but now it seems wearers like the more played down ones in blue, blank and brown.
matthew:
Hi Carl,
Good to know! What’s the preferred colour this season?
Louis:
those galoshes have been on my do want list for a while.
And it’s “Prada shoes DE LA saison.” :)
matthew:
Hi Louis,
Well spotted, thank you!
Charles:
Yes, Swims are the hot ticket (though rather expensive for rubber overshoes). They can be seen in New York (and are for sale from Brooks Brothers, Ben Silver in Charleston, and Orvis).
Charles:
The other nice thing about the Lobb version is that they have a built-in heel
EINAR:
Both John Lobb and Armani (also coming next fall) are designed and produced by Swims. Prada made an exact copy of the product that Swims launched 3 years ago.
Julian:
Swims reinvented the galosh. Beeing from Scandinavia you can’t miss it, walking the streets of Stockholm and Oslo.
Ole:
Swims = must have. Keeps me dry, warm and cool!
