At this very moment, the next issue of FANTASTIC MAN is at the printers, a painstaking process that receives as much care and attention as the creation of the magazine itself. It is with this love of print in mind that the online realm of FANTASTIC MAN will celebrate other printed titles from around the world that similarly commit themselves to exploring the possibilities of the printed page.

Today: MONOCLE MEDITERRANEO. This summer, the people over at MONOCLE have been producing a highly entertaining issue in the shape of a newspaper specifically for the more charming resorts around the Med. Editor in chief Mr. TYLER BRÛLÉ is a big fan of daily titles and is using the paper to prove what life is left in the medium, decisively publishing on paper rather than via iPAD. As always, there are a billion short articles filed from various international MONOCLE bureaus, so it’s quite ideal for digesting travel tips, fashion hints and geopolitical observations one at the time between naps in the sun.     I could never quite get into Monocle myself (more of an FM reader, personally) but I have given my brother a couple of copies in the hopes providing an alternative to his beloved Esquire.

Furthermore, FANTASTIC MAN explores new grounds in CHINA through a 37-page fashion reportage inspired by the stylistic characteristics of the men of Beijing. The remainder of the 268-page issue is full of absorbing stories, photographs of some gloriously useless PAPERWEIGHTS, style investigations, tips and tricks for the upcoming Autumn and Winter seasons, and a delightful new format in which we have conducted insightful conversations with three gentlemen of note: KIM JONES, DIRK SCHÖNBERGER and JOHNNY MARR, the famed guitarist of THE SMITHS.
