Mr. SIMON FOXTON of London writes: “May I suggest the wonderful re-published books from the PERSEPHONE PRESS? These are, for the most part, from British women authors of the 20th Century. They are uniformly bound in dove grey, softback covers with wonderful ‘fabric print’ end-papers. Their shop on Lamb’s Conduit Street in London is a total gem. And the books are great weekend reads.” Some favourites of SIMON are “The Village” by Ms. MARGHANITA LASKI, “The Fortnight in September” by R.C. SHERRIFF, and “Few Eggs and No Oranges” – the diaries of Ms. VERE HODGSON.

Charles:
Happy Easter and/or Spring to all the staff at *Fantastic Man* — you guys (and gals?) bring some fun into every day
Christine:
If you’re into fiction written before the days of M.F.A. programs (you know… novels with plots), Persephone is indispensable. My favorites include “Operation Heartbreak” by Duff Cooper, and “Someone at a Distance” by Dorothy Whipple.
