I just made my local magazine stockist in St Germain, Paris pull out a few extra copies onto the front shelf, so they won't be ignored

I must say I think the section about the porridge, the absence and the baldness is my favourite section. Very considered.

My daily recommendation is buy fresh flowers, and carry them with you throughout the day, to give to yourself or someone else later - people in the streets will see them and smile and you'll bring a bit of true glamour everyone's way

Another one, bright socks - on the dullest day wear your brightest socks - become an English eccentric in a trice, inspired by hockney

How about putting snowballs, from when it snows, in your freezer to play with one hot Summers day

Another one - apologise when you really don't think you're in the wrong, it'll make you feel
great.

Or plan a holiday based entirely on the locations of a favourite film

Perhaps make your evening meal in only one colour - different shades of cream like terrific on a darker plate

watch a film, read a book or listen to a track you'd never NORMALLY choose, you might be wildly surprised...

book a holiday a long time in advance, or a train trip to your nearest capital...even better if you forget about it, as it will announce itself like a bunch of flowers nearer the time

drink even the most standard of drinks out of a nice glass!

oh the list goes on.......
