Day two of menswear presentations in London heralded a celebratory debut. Fantastic Man’s fabulous former assistant (not to mention first ever menswear designer to win “Collection of the Year” at the London College of Fashion’s BA Graduate Show) Mr. SEBASTIAAN PIETER GROENEN presented his first post-college collection, a wonderful combination of tailoring and knitwear. The label has been baptised “PIETER”, and the first presentation stems from its founder’s dislike of the telephone app “Grindr”, another example of a medium whereby real-life interaction has been traded for yet more staring at smartphones. With next winter’s collection, PIETER offers a seductive sartorial alternative via this knitted jumper screaming ‘FUN NOW’. Other designs, featuring funny half-length sleeves and cropped waists (see above, right) are sure to facilitate all sorts of touching and stroking.
