While contemplating an amazing DIPLOMATICO briefcase on a visit last week to the house of VALEXTRA in Milan, an interesting discussion unfolded on the current popularity of briefcases and other formal luggage for men. It seems as if a nice carrier is a good tool to formalise one’s attire, just the way a necktie does. And sometimes one doesn’t want to dress up in formal clothes. In those cases, a briefcase can add that necessary veneer of formality to suit the occasion. It’s also inevitably a MAD MEN thing. Naturally it is always recommended to be on the lookout for a timeless piece of hand luggage, and indeed the DIPLOMATICO in a Bordeaux red colour called “Marasca” is superb, especially when money is no issue.
