In these dog days of summer, there is more than ample opportunity for procrastination. To make these times of distraction more fulfilling, FANTASTIC MAN would like to present some video recommendations from the popular internet portal YOUTUBE.
The first is a glimpse of how summers could be, as once envisioned by the late GIANNI VERSACE. Aside from its obvious brazenness (print, colour, bodypaint, bumbags), the show is remarkable for the sheer sense of performance. The models have strut and presence, and prowl the catwalk in their silk shirts and short shorts like they are marking their territory. A token appearance by Ms. NAOMI CAMPBELL elevates the affair to unfathomable heights of ridiculousness.
It is also worth watching the S/S ’95 show by VERSACE to see how the designer responded to the minimalism that had overtaken fashion at that time (answer: some sober suits before unleashing a riot of print), but sadly this clip has no sound. Oh well!
