Though born in The Netherlands, photographer Mr. ARI MARCOPOULOS has become known as a pre-eminent chronicler of American life: beginning by capturing the first stirrings of hip-hop culture after moving to New York in 1980, and lately focusing on his own family and the scenic surroundings of their home in Northern California. His images have been amassed in a nice retrospective called “It might seem familiar” at FOAM, the Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam, open now and running through June 16.

It’s funny how things come around: during my study his book ‘Portraits From The Studio And The Street’ was an eye-opener. The exhibition is wonderful!
in the words of the earliest rappers (not hip-hoppers), this is wack! (wack being a derogative word meaning rubbish, garbage, etc)
