Winter travel week kicks off with the recommendation of a holiday in Zermatt, Switzerland for its unrivalled skiing and fabulous views of the country’s tallest mountain peaks, including the MATTERHORN. Mr. PHILIPPE MENAGER of Paris, France, recently wrote from there with the news that, as of the time of writing, “the snow is excellent, and so is the weather,” even though a recent Sunday temperature registered at a very chilly -30 degrees. “Never before had I seen champagne freezing on the sides of a glass,” exclaimed PHILIPPE. Freezing or no, it all sounds quite delicious.
