Readers in Paris are advised to secure a strategic position near the entrance of Espace Ephemere tonight to try to obtain a surplus-to-requirement ticket for the sold-out show of WILD BEASTS, the exciting pop group of singers Mr. HAYDEN THORPE (stirring falsetto, moustache, seen above) and Mr. TOM FLEMING (baritone, fondness for vests). Seldom since Mr. WILLIAM WORDSWORTH have sons of the English LAKE DISTRICT produced such vivid and sensual lyrics, often delivered with a slightly yodelly vibrato, to the relentless drive of Mr. BEN LITTLE’s metronomic guitar. Later this weekend WILD BEASTS will be playing in Utrecht, in The Netherlands, and a homecoming gig next month in Kendal. All these shows are probably sold out too, but experience tells tickets are often available from people who are stuck at home with the swine flu.

I saw them in London at the Garage a few months ago. Mr Fleming wore a particularly fetching vest and was in fine voice. For those so inclined you can follow them on the twitter at twitter.com/WildBeasts though they don’t tweet particularly often
