Thanks to our friend JOHN COLVER for this recommendation: a journey to the YORKSHIRE SCULPTURE PARK in England which, for the benefit of those who rarely roam north of the Watford Gap, is in Wakefield, directly accessible via rail from London’s Kings Cross. The park is the grounds of an old stately home, and a superb day is to be had marching around in any old direction, discovering the large sculptures that have been dotted around its grounds. What’s more, all of the outhouses have been turned into galleries. Take this permanent room/light sculpture by JAMES TURRELL, whose work happens to have been an inspiration for the latest CALVIN KLEIN COLLECTION menswear show. The room opens up to showcase the sky’s constantly changing appearance: lie back and enjoy!
