This coming Monday, October 12, the editors of FANTASTIC MAN will be lecturing in the city of Tokyo, Japan, at the TOKYO GRAPHIC PASSPORT International Magazine Conference. The 45-minute lecture from Mr. VAN BENNEKOM and Mr. JONKERS will shine a light on the editorial and art-directional ideas behind FANTASTIC MAN, and will be accompanied by an entertaining kaleidoscope of images from the magazine’s 10 issues so far. Other speakers include the towering Mr. JÖRG KOCH from O32C magazine and Mr. YORGO TLOUPAS from INTERSECTION magazine. Readers are kindly invited to submit any eminent Tokyo tips, as the editors will hang around in the city for a few more days and would love to know the best places for dining, drinking, shopping and generally feeling Tokyo born-and-bred.

Nakameguro, Shimokitazawa and Nezu are my favourite areas: laid-back, great shops, oishii food and not too crowded. Perfect for (re)discovering a real Tokyo, far from the usual cliches.
For a unique dining experience, eat in Kagurazaka, in one of the old isakayas in the narrow streets near the temple.

Hoi , Nakameguro is de best place to b overdag : shops/cafes etc….volg de rivier van Nakameguro station en wijk gerust ook af naar alle kanten om de buurt goed te verkennen , je komt hele goeie retail tegen.
Voor een leuke dinner avond naar Gonpacho (restaurant uit KillBill) met sushi en terriyaki.
Drinken met gezellige homo’s vanuit de hele wereld doe je in Shinjuku bij ArtyFarty en Dragon etc.
Jammergenoeg mis ik jullie lecture , kom maandag weer thuis in A’dam.
