What type of garment is key to your personal style?

An oversized long coat.

How many oversized long coats do you have in your wardrobe?

I have a few different ones from ÉTUDES. They range from grey to black, and from wool to nylon.

What is it specifically about them that you love?

The elegance of a masculine, sober, long, warm coat. It must have really large pockets, which can easily hold books, a phone, keys, a bottle of water – all at the same time.

What are the defining specifications that make the perfect coat?

The volume. I really appreciate the size of this kind of coat. The style looks right thanks to the shape and the weight of fabric. Also, the size of pockets makes it look bigger, stronger. I feel good in it, almost protected. I could go everywhere with this coat on. I could brave the world.

Do you look at fashion for inspiration?

I am not very attentive to what is fashionable, even if some of my work is a reflection on men’s fashion today. I am more sensitive to what surrounds us, our society, our cities, our means of communication, experiences…

Have you ever considered settling on a strict uniform and what would it be?

I think I can describe my daily look as a contemporary uniform, in a sense. Black Dr. MARTENS boots, black five pocket jeans, a black T-Shirt, a black LEVI’S denim jacket and a black oversized wool coat. I like the difference between these black shades, naturally created by the different fabrics. I like the idea of wearing timeless clothes, pieces that are still icons of some cultures or movement.

Can you describe the state of your closet? Is it tidy, messy, super organised, folded, boxed, grouped by colour or season, etcetera?

Super messy. Since everything looks almost the same, especially in the morning, I just pick what’s on the top of the pile.
