What type of garment is key to your personal style?

A denim jacket.

How many denim jackets do you have in your wardrobe?

Six.

What is it specifically about them that you love?

They can add a personal touch and a casual attitude to any outfit.

What are the defining specifications of the perfect denim jacket?

I like them to be snug, almost too small.

Do you know where your attachment to denim jackets comes from? Is it something from your youth, or something you picked up from a specific person? When, who?

I associated them with cool kids when I was young and was reinforced in my teenage years by people like KATE MOSS, THE STROKES and LAURYN HILL. They always seemed cool without pretension.

Are you happy for the whole world to wear ‘your’ garment or do you prefer to stand out?

I’m happy to see anyone wear a denim jacket since it’s a garment that works on everyone. I really love seeing older men wearing denim jackets they’ve clearly have had for many years.

Can you describe the state of your closet? Is it tidy, messy, super organised, folded, boxed, grouped by colour or season, etcetera?

It’s all of the above! A bit messy, kinda organised, folded, and yet still piles of clothing. There’s clothing in every nook and cranny of my room.

Is there a garment that you used to dislike but ended up loving and wearing? When or why did your aversion to it turn to fondness? What changed your mind?

Sweatpants. Always loathed them growing up. Thought they looked lazy. I was gifted a pair about 4 years ago and ended up wearing them all the time. I guess I’ve just succumbed to the athleisure trend.

Have you ever made a radical change in your ‘look’?

The last radical thing I did was bleach my hair two years ago. Never again.

Have you ever considered settling on a strict uniform and what would it be? Would you consider it a relief, or a loss of options?

I romanticise the idea of uniform dressing, but don’t think I’ll ever get there. I would get bored too quickly.

What do you wear to look sexy? Do you have a pick up look?

A T-shirt tucked into well fitting trousers to accentuate the bum and waist.

What amazing tip for wardrobe management or maintenance can you share?

I’m not the one to give advice for this, but I’m open to any guidance.
